What It's About:
Shane, a lone rider with a six-gun and mysterious past (Ladd), alights at the small homestead of Joe Starrett (Heflin), and offers to work for temporary room and board. Ultimately, Shane must use the gun he'd foresworn to help Starrett repel a gang who wants his land. The arrival of homicidal gunman Jack Wilson (Jack Palance) brings matters to a head.
Why I Love It:
Exciting, heart-warming and stunningly directed by veteran George Stevens, "Shane" also features a smart, lean script and inspired performances throughout. It ranks as one of our top westerns and top films. Don't miss that incredible ending.
